Generally, my favorite part of traveling to Europe is checking out small towns. They are less touristy and you get a better feel of the country. While these small towns are unique and filled with charm, sometimes, it is a pain to figure out how to get there! For this reason, I have put together a guide of ways to get to Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic.
I found Cesky Krumlov to be particularly challenging when planning my trip. I was coming from Budapest which made the trek particularly confusing. Unfortunately, there is not an easy way to get to Cesky Krumlov via train because the closest train station is about thirty minutes away. Fortunately for you, I spent a lot of time figuring out the best way to get to Cesky Krumlov. Below is a list of the easiest ways to get to this adorable town!
Cesky Krumlov is a great addition to a trip to Eastern Europe. The town is a true fairy tale! It’s honesly one of my favorite towns in Europe. I’ve already been there twice and cannot wait for my next trip! It’s quaint and filled with charm. For more towns like Cesky Krumlov, check out the 10 Most Magical Towns in Europe.
CESKY KRUMLOV & BUDAPEST
The first time I visited Cesky Krumlov I visited from Budapest. So below is the route I took. If you’re traveling from Budapest to Cesky Krumlov try to get on the first train of the day! It’s not the most direct route so will be quite the travel day!
Train: Budapest to Linz, Austria
The train ride from Budapest to Linz is approximately 4 hours. There are a lot of direct train rides, making for an easy trip.
Bus: Linz to Cesky Krumlov
From Linz, you will take a bus to Cesky Krumlov. The bus ride is about 90 minutes and you will cross the border from Austria to the Czech Republic! While there are a lot of options, CK Shuttle is awesome! The shuttle sits approximately 8 people and will drop you off directly to your hotel. It is not only convenient, but reasonably priced. Our driver was so sweet and she taught us so much about the Czech Republic!
CESKY KRUMLOV & PRAGUE
Bus: Prague to Cesky Krumlov
I’ve traveled between Cesky Krumlov and Prague twice now; they’re a quick bus ride apart. The first time I used CK Shuttle to travel from Cesky Krumlov to Prague. The second time I used Regio Jet which was great.
I had a great experience with both CK Shuttle and Regio Jet. In my opinion, the biggest factors when choosing between CK Shuttle and Regio Jet are luggage and budget. As I mentioned, CK Shuttle is a little more expensive but will pick you up and drop you off at your hotel. Regio Jet is a standard bus but it’s comfortable and the service is excellent!
CESKY KRUMLOV & VIENNA
Bus: Cesky Krumlov from Vienna
Cesky Krumlov is an easy bus ride from Vienna as well! While it is possible to travel to Cesky Krumlov from Vienna by train, it is MUCH longer than the bus. I recommend traveling by bus, as they leave a few times a day.
While these are the most common routes to Cesky Krumlov, many other cities are a quick bus ride away! Take a look at CK Shuttle to see all of their routes.
Safe Travels,
Sarah :)
