Denmark, officially the Kingdom of Denmark, is in Northwest Europe on the Jutland peninsula and consists of over 440 islands. The largest of these islands is Zealand and is home to the country’s capital, Copenhagen. Technically, Copenhagen sits between the two islands Zealand and Amager, but most of the city lies on the island of Zealand with just a small part residing on the Island of Amager. Denmark is the southernmost country of the Scandinavian nations lying south of Norway and southwest of Sweden. Many people are surprised to learn that the Kingdom of Denmark also includes two autonomous territories of Greenland and the Faroe Islands.
Currency:
The official currency in Denmark is the Danish Krone. The currency code is DKK and the currency sign is Kr. You can find ATMs commonly around town and at the airport as well.
Language:
The official language in Denmark is Danish and is spoken by much of the population. Due to the Kingdom of Demark’s autonomous territories, Faroese and Greenlandic are also official regional languages. As for English, you will find most Danes speak English as a second language. It is mandatory for Danes to learn English in school.

When To Visit
Denmark has been consistently ranked as one of the happiest countries in the world making it always a good time to visit this beautiful destination. Shoulder Season: May-June & September-October
The shoulder season in Denmark is during the months of May through June and September through October. These months tend to bring the fewest number of crowds making for the optimal time to visit Denmark and see its many attractions. Fall tends to be particularly beautiful with the fall colors taking over.
Peak Season: July to August
The peak season in Denmark is July to August. This is when you can expect the warmest weather and the highest number of crowds around Denmark’s most popular destinations.
Low Season: November to April
The low season in Denmark tends to be from November to April. During this season, the weather is at its coldest and the crowds tend to be lower than the shoulder and peak season. If you happen to be visiting in November or December, be sure to check out Denmark’s popular Christmas markets taking place throughout many of the country’s major cities.
