Most of these ferries look like cruise ships and can transport cars in the low cargo area. Above the cargo levels, these ships have open seating, exclusive lounges, food courts, shops, and more to help you relax as you sail to your next destination.

Currency:

The official currency of Greece is the Euro. The currency code for the Euro is EUR and the sign is €. You can find ATMs located on most of the popular islands and most shops accept debit or credit cards as well.

Language:

The official language in Greece is Greek. However, most locals understand English as well making communicating easier if you do not speak Greek.

When To Visit

Tourism in Greece typically sees two seasons, the peak season and the low season. Below is a guide to these seasons to help you understand the differences between them so you can better plan your trip.

The Peak Season:

The Peak Season in Greece is April through October. These months tend to bring the best weather with July and August being the hottest two months. During the peak season, it is the optimal time to explore the islands and relax at many of Greece’s beautiful beaches. Keep in mind that the water on either end of the peak season tends to be chillier. The water begins to get more enjoyable from mid-May through mid-October.

The Low Season:

The low season in Greece is during the Months of November through March. During this time, the weather is at its coldest and there tend to be more days with strong winds that can suspend the ferries from operating. In addition to this, many shops and restaurants on the Islands tend to close for the winter until the peak season starts back up. If you are traveling the mainland, this time of year tends to present the best hotel deals, but that does come with a higher likelihood of bad weather.
