Indonesia is the largest country in Southeast Asia and consists of over 17,500 islands. These Islands span over 3,200 miles (5,100 km) from east to west and 1,100 miles (1800 km) from north to south. Of Indonesia’s 17,500 islands, only about 6,000 of them are populated. Some of the most popular destinations include Bali, Lombok, Sumatra, Komodo, Java, Sulawesi, and Raja Ampat. Indonesia has everything from beautiful beaches with great surfing to stunning national parks full of natural wonders.
Currency:
The official currency of Indonesia is the Indonesian Rupiah. The currency code for the Indonesian Rupiah is IDR. Currently, 1 USD is a little over 15,616 IDR.
Language:
The official language in Indonesia is Indonesian. However, it is estimated that there are over 700 living languages spoken throughout Indonesia.

When To Visit
Indonesia is a beautiful destination that travelers visit year-round. With a tropical climate, the weather hovers around an average temperature of 82°F (28°C) year-round. With such warm weather, Indonesia’s tourism has been booming. Over 15.8 million people visited Indonesia last year alone.
Deciding when to visit is pretty easy. The country only has two seasons. The Dry Season and The Wet Season:
The Dry Season:
The most popular season for tourists to visit is in the dry season. The dry season lasts from April to October. I recommend visiting in the shoulder months of the dry season. The shoulder months are May, June, and September. These months provide beautiful weather while the crowds remain at a minimum. The most popular and busiest months to visit Indonesia are July and August. The crowds tend to soar during these months and the prices tend to increase as well. Keep this in mind if you have the ability to plan your travel times.
The Wet Season:
The wet season typically lasts from November to March. The wettest months tend to be January and February. Although this is Indonesia’s wet season, the temperature still remains warm and tropical. The costs are also lower during the wet season. This makes traveling to Indonesia during the wet season an attractive offer for budget travelers.Â
